Dear Friends,
As you may know, the Riverside County District Attorney’s Office is currently in a state of crisis. The Grand Jury found within the DA’s Office a “pervasive climate of fear and intimidation”. During the last three years, nearly 90 experienced prosecutors left that office, and the DA’s conviction rate at trial has dropped below 45% of all charges filed. The Grand Jury also recommended that the DA eliminate his private executive staff, which would save taxpayers over $600,000 per year, but our current DA, Rod Pacheco, has refused to take this action.
It is well known that Rod Pacheco has the political skills to curry the support of community leaders like you, through political favors or fear of retribution. However, there comes a time when we must live up to our responsibilities as community leaders and recognize that change is needed NOW!
We have a FIRST CLASS qualified candidate running for District Attorney-my good friend, Judge Paul Zellerbach. As a prosecutor in the Riverside County District Attorney’s Office for 22 years and a Riverside County Superior Court Judge for 10 years, he’s proven to be tough on crime.
With Judge Zellerbach as our DA, we might not be treated to great photo-ops, such as the one on the flatbed truck with Rod and his million-dollar PR team taking possession of Rod’s “Idaho walking dead man”.
However, Judge Zellerbach will operate the DA’s office in the best interests of our over-burdened taxpayers, instead of as a personal vehicle for political advancement. We can count on him to restore integrity and professionalism to this office, eliminate the private executive staff, and raise the conviction rate.
